Calling all writers!

Posted by Krash17 - May 24th, 2014

I am seeking four writers for a short project I'm putting together.  The idea is to have each writer contribute a piece of a story based on dramatic structure: A beginning (or exposition), rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion.  Through this project, I hope I can inspire others to do similar projects, help the writers on my project grow and learn, and hopefully have a lot of fun.

The end result will be a single story, probably with a hilariously disjointed plot and a bunch of contrasting styles but hey, at least it is something to work on instead of just staring at your screen wondering what to do next.

All the juicy details of the project can be found here:

Contact me if you're interested!

No idea what dramatic structure is?  No problem, everybody has to start somewhere. Here's a handy wiki link for you:

Have you any thoughts on the subject of this project?

The theme will be "horror". I wanted this to be a pretty free project, just something to flex the creative muscles, so the power of subject would fall to the writer assigned to first leg of the story. Are you interested?

I'd be delighted to contribute. Mind, though, I might wind up borrowing inspiration from Edgar Allen Poe...

There is nothing wrong with that, I love his work. I'll be contacting you soon, thanks!

Gladly... but I'm very busy now

That's fine, I understand, thanks for your interest. I'll keep you in mind for future projects if you aren't available for this one.

Beginning: The child

Rising Action: close their eyes

Climax: Entering a visual state where in they slide off of their silver helix, off the ramp, into the oblivion, to reach a cosmic, god-like form.

Falling Action: The child is no longer a child, but a god.

Conclusion: You can be everything - or nothing.

Beginning: The sky

Rising Action: Broked

Climax: The pieces revealed the monsters in Man, which made it impossible to lie to themselves, thus causing the monsters to run amok

Falling Action: Humans no longer existed

Conclusion: Man was defeated by themselves

These are some thought-provoking ideas. Are you interested in being a contributor?

Can I use notepad? It's like... my child.

The only real formatting requirements are that you save as a .rtf file. If you can do that, then sure! Keep in mind though, since this project is now underway, the first portions will already be written in .rtf format and I'm not sure if notepad can do that or not. Still interested?

Can I just write .rtf at the end of each chapter?

No, notepad doesn't work like that. It only saves as .txt. I think WordPad will be your best bet, it defaults as .rtf when you save.

I just remembered I do have a WordPad, I was writing an obituary for this tiny ant I called "King".

It's coming along alright, but along the lines of fantastical horror. I've passed you a link to the work in progress -- I hope it works.

Beginning: Protozoas become infected by a mysterious electromagnetic wave which alters it drastically

Rising Action: People sit on their couches being lazy fucks as per usual

Climax: Monsterly people sit on their couches being lazy fucks as per usual

Falling Action: Nobody is hurt, so here's your happy ending

Conclusion: A story about a monster doesn't always have to change a whole lot of the sequence

Haha... That sounds like some good dark comedy material.
