Listen up, creative cretins!  I meant to get this out to you sooner, but someone tried to park their SUV in my back seat and I was in the hospital.  One neck brace and several X-rays later, and I am fine if not sore and slightly more irradiated than before.  Enough about that!  I'm late coming out with this, so I'll be brief.

1.)  Entries to the competition must be a short story (3000 words max) or poem (8 stanzas max) that takes place in the universe that will be provided for you.  You must take directly from this prompt when writing, entries not falling in this universe will not qualify.  Hey, we're building a universe together!  How awesome is that?

2.)  Competition ends on October 18th.

3.)  Get your creative juices flowing, because there will be a $25 Amazon gift card for the best short story and poem.  Woot! What have you got to lose?

Here is your prompt!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys and gals can come up with.  Don't forget, guild meeting September 20th at 8 p.m. eastern.  Contact Tremax if you need access to the guild Skype chats.  In the meantime, keep those forums active and never stop creating!  Oh, and drive safe out there.  I'd hate for you to destroy some innocent Nissan while lost in thought about what to write.

Not in the WNG?  Don't know what it is?  Check us out here.

Best wishes to all,

Krash, VP of WNG

I'm proud to be back and working with the fine Writers of Newgrounds once more.  Great things are coming down the pipe, and here is a small sample of that.  This is my first collaborative work for NG, and definitely the one that I spent the most time on.  Big thanks to the lovely and multi-talented Troisnyx for her musical contributions and creative suggestions, and to the hideous and singularly-talented Patrick for talking into a microphone and being my friend for nearly two decades.  (Really though, will you just listen to that voice?  Mmm)

As We Fall is a poem I wrote for WNG's first anthology (to be released in October!  Woot!!) exploring the importance of creation, and what it means to leave a legacy.  I think with so many creative people gathered in one place that you all will identify with the urgency of this piece and the drive to keep making more, more, more.

If you are a writer or in need of one with which to exercise your talents, or maybe just read some underground goodness, come and check out the WNG.  I'd love to do more collaborations like this one, hope you guys enjoy!

With Luvv,

Krash17, VP of the WNG

It's been about 8 years since I seriously put pen to paper to write something, and since joining up with WNG I have just felt this huge surge of creativity.  It's totally addicting.  I am pleased to present to you a preview of my submission for WNG's very first anthology...Wasteland.  Set in modern day rural Illinois, this is a tale of good people with bad habits, and what it takes to make someone consider changing those habits.  It was a blast to write, and is a subject near and dear to me.

When I wrote this I came to understand why some writers have gone on record saying that they feel like they are being guided by the characters, rather than the other way around.  I had an insistent voice in my head while I was writing this...I would find myself taking the story one direction and feel this very strong sense of someone telling me "No, that isn't the way it happened, try something else," as if this were an historical account rather than a work of fiction.  It was kind of eerie, but very invigorating at the same time.  But we can talk about the philosophy of creation another time!

I am pleased to report that WNG is making great progress on our anthology coming out on June 20th!  Keep an eye on the writing forum as more and more previews are released.  After it's all over, we'll be starting another big project, and I for one can't wait.  It is not too late to be a part of this project, or just hop on board for the next one!  Now is the time to be creative.  There are some big things coming down the pipe and I want you all to be a part of it.  The more people we have writing, the more awesome our projects are going to be.  I would love to see some more screenwriters, poets, songwriters, editors, and game writers.  One of us.  One of us.  Gooble gobble gooble gobble.

But the REAL reason I made this post is because...my submission for the project is done!  And June 20th is VERY far away.  I am ready IMMEDIATELY for more side projects.  Do you have a story you want to collaborate on?  Do you want to spearhead a new writing project, like a collection of limerick poems, or maybe a Writing Relay like this one I put together?  Maybe you are in love with your pet Iguana, and would like him to be immortalized in a poem or song?  PM me, join WNG, and come hang with us.  Or just PM me!  I am ready to work with you.

First, a big thank you to those who have chosen to take the time to contribute to the Horror Story Relay.  Details here.  All spots are filled now, but keep a lookout in the future for more projects like this one!  If anyone wants to start a project of their own, I'd be happy to contribute, just send me a PM.

Next, a shoutout to the WNG.  Writers of Newgrounds is making moves to provide a solid foundation for the writers in our community.  Already we've got projects off the ground, and I can't express enough how much of a joy it has been to finally get off my ass and do something creative.  You can do it too, all skill levels and styles are welcome.  WNG will provide an environment of creativity, collaboration, and constructive criticism for all.  The best part is being able to have projects to work on and practice our craft, while expanding your body of work in the process (or establishing one at all!).

If you are a writer, or are interested in writing or just want some practice, this is the place to be.  Writers are working together right now, and you can be a part of it.  This is your chance to stop talking about doing something creative and actually do it!  Don't be a wuss!  Come join us!  WNG

Things are moving fast on this project, fast than I thought they would.  Thanks to all my contributors so far. If you are a writer, or are interested in writing or just want some practice, this is the place to be.  This project is very casual, just a fun idea for writers to get together, collaborate, and get the creative juices flowing.  This is the first project of this kind I've done, but probably not the last.  It's been fun to put this together and see the work people are doing, and I really want to see this through to completion.  This is your chance to stop talking about doing something creative and actually do it.  Come join us!

I only need two more writers for this project.  The idea is to have each writer contribute a piece of a story based on dramatic structure: A beginning (or exposition), rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion.  Through this project, I hope I can inspire others to do similar projects, help the writers on my project grow and learn, and hopefully have a lot of fun.

The end result will be a single story, probably with a hilariously disjointed plot and a bunch of contrasting styles but hey, at least it is something to work on instead of just staring at your screen wondering what to do next.

All the juicy details of the project can be found here:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1367017

Contact me if you're interested, and we'll get more into the details of the project!

No idea what dramatic structure is?  No problem, everybody has to start somewhere. Here's a handy wiki link for you:

I got a lot of good feedback from my first post about this, but I am still seeking three more writers!  This will be a fun project, and a good exercise for aspiring writers.

I am now seeking three writers for a short project I'm putting together.

I am seeking four writers for a short project I'm putting together.

Took me a while to come out of my shell.  I have been lurking and lurking for such a long time.  I came for Assassin and stayed for the community, and finally submitted my first piece, an old audio file that was buried in my computer from my teenage days.  I feel that it might get blammed into oblivion, but I figure since I have been able to dish out reviews and critiques maybe it was time I learned to take it as well.

Alas, I have no idea what I'm doing or how scouting works.  Today has a very real "Day 1" feel to it, even though I've been here for years.  If this works out, I'll try to put some more stuff on here too.  If it doesn't work out, I'll probably still try to put some more stuff on here.
